Greetings.
You've stumbled upon a recreation of my old student book. The one I cobbled together as a young, up-and-coming copywriter who was attempting to elbow his way into the ultra-competitive advertising industry by any means necessary.
You see, after graduating from public university with two bachelor's degrees that were paid for by a combination of student loans and Pell grants, I was then told that in order to obtain the career I wanted, I would have to pay tens of thousands of dollars more to attend what was called "portfolio school."
Well, that was not an option for me. I was a lower class, mixed-ethnicity kid from the Midwest with zero resources, zero connections, and zero wealth. I was an outsider.
So, I just did what I could. Which meant a lot of burning the midnight oil concepting, writing, and doing really sloppy work in Photoshop, Illustrator and Premiere.
Until one day, I finally broke in.
And they haven't managed to kick me back out yet.
